Cactus Juice Stabilizing Resin is a premium, professional-grade thermosetting resin for stabilizing and hardening wood and other porous materials. It is especially effective on wood that is otherwise too soft to work with! Cactus Juice is easy to use and will not significantly change the color of most woods. Cactus Juice is non-toxic, non-flammable, and is NOT solvent-based, resulting in a 99.99% solid by weight, liquid-to-solid solution.
The cactus juice is supplied unactivated with the activator in a separate bottle. Activation is easy, simply open the small bottle and pour the contents into the large bottle. Place the cap on and shake well. If some of the activator particles do not dissolve, let it sit overnight and shake again the next day. YOU MUST ACTIVATE THE ENTIRE BOTTLE! We do not recommend partial activation of the liquid as it is difficult to dose the activator correctly. The shelf life of activated cactus juice is 8-12 months.

Curing method
Cactus sap is heat-treated at temperatures between 80 and 96 °C (177 and 205 °F). Cactus sap cures when the resin temperature inside the blank reaches 90ºC for 6-8 minutes. Typically, it takes 1-1.5 hours for a typical small batch of 10 pencil blanks. Blanks with a large cross-sectional area or larger batches of blanks may require longer processing times to reach the required curing temperature.
Choice of maintenance temperatures
Cactus Juice is made from the highest quality monomers to maximize the polymer’s operating range. Cactus Juice is recommended for continuous use from -54ºC (-65ºF) to 189ºC (372ºF).
Storage
Activated cactus juice is easy to store and has a shelf life of approximately 12 months under proper storage conditions. The resin should be stored in its original packaging and away from direct sunlight or other sources of UV radiation. Storage temperatures should be kept below 29ºC (85ºF). Refrigeration is recommended.
Handling
Cactus Juice resin can be handled safely using standard practices for handling non-toxic industrial chemicals. Rubber gloves should be worn when handling liquid cactus juice. Avoid excessive skin contact and if contact occurs, wash thoroughly with water and mild soap. If dermatitis occurs, seek medical attention and avoid further contact. Avoid accidental eye contact by wearing safety glasses. In case of accidental eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical attention if necessary.
Waste management
Dried cactus sap is inert and can be disposed of as normal industrial waste. Uncured resin must be cured before disposal. Resin dissolved in wash water effluent is biodegradable.
